Immigration

We are all human beings at the end of the day. We all bring our experiences, our perspectives, and our aspirations to the table, and it is time that our immigration system did the exact same thing. No longer must immigration be thought of as just part of a machine, it is time for an immigration policy that focussed upon the needs of the human.

• Borders are the barriers laid down by the bourgeoisie in order to oppress the working class by limiting their ability to move, to live life with experiences, to have solidarity with one another. If this wasn't clear, there's a reason why capital can flow freely between countries, but people cannot. We are proud of our constant support for completely open borders in the UK, and will work across the globe to bring about the same, so that people can truly enjoy what the world has to offer.
• Asylum seekers in the UK are told, in simple terms, to sit still with practically no financial support until their application is completely processed. This includes preventing asylum seekers from being involved in their community with paid or even voluntary work. Until such a time open borders renders this null and void, we believe in creating the right to work for asylum seekers, allowing full participation within our communities, providing a sense of purpose and belonging whilst waiting for their application to be processed.
• Part of any humane immigration policy must now be that of preparation. Climate change only continues to grow from human influence, and it is now ripping people away from their homes at greater and greater numbers. We must be ready to lead efforts in this inevitable humanitarian crisis, and we will prepare for large scale climate induced migration, improving the relevant infrastructure and training the additional civil servants required to handle the sudden influx of applications that looms on the horizon.
• In an era where prominent politicians have made policy that would have rejected the Kindertransport, we must - and we do - stand in support of those who have been forced to flee their homes, whether that be through climate change, fascism and violent prejudice, or through more direct ecocide against their communities. And not only will we stand in support, but we will fight against and dismantle the root cause of the previous - the insatiable greed of capitalism.
