Democracy

Democracy is more than a ballot box to choose our next approved oligarch. Democracy is more than something we do once a year. Democracy is how our society decides what is the best for us - and it's time that decision was made by us, and not for us!
- Moving towards a society where decisions are made purely for the good of all, rather than being coerced into taking specific actions, is something we know will take time and effort. In order to allow for people to become used to the idea, we will introduce participatory budgets and make proper use of Citizens' Assemblies, allowing us to see the benefits of democracy as a tool of the people, and the state simply working to administer the will of the people.
- The notion of the England and Wales legal jurisdiction says that the correct approach in Anglesey is the same as in Dover, that the tools needed in Carlisle are the same as those in Cardiff. This is the sort of madness that leaves people disconnected from their communities, that forces a centralisation to Westminster. We will split the England and Wales legal jurisdiction into two, allowing for a devolution of justice to the Senedd, as well as supporting further devolution of powers to communities where appropriate.
- Preventing Prisoner Voting, even when we have made some progress here, is a way for the state to be able to muzzle those it does not wish to vote. It is an insanity that we would ever disenfranchise a group, and doubly so those who are at the complete mercy of the state. We will completely reinstate prisoner voting, as well as support other moves to enfranchise those that live in the UK, and are effected by the decisions of our community.
- The continued usage of FPTP as part of our electoral system flies in the face of all sense, producing many constituencies where local representation is a minority of that constituency's wishes. We will introduce STV for all Westminster elections, as part of MMP for the General Election, to ensure that constituencies have the most accurate local representation for their beliefs.
