The Environment

Rewilding
Increasing our biodiversity is the only way we can protect our environment, return beauty to desolate lands, and create a massive carbon sink to fight against climate change. The reintroduction of animals with key ecological niches does this in a truly natural way, regenerating lands whilst protecting endangered species - especially in situations where an invasive species has caused concern.
Beyond Trees
Tree planting is the capitalist's favourite trick - it's cheap, it's good publicity, and it doesn't actually do anything worthwhile. Tree planting policies, even with the best intentions, are made irrelevant if we're simply creating a dead forest to chop down for timber ten years later. The People's Movement knows that nature needs more than a few trees, and for any 'tree planting' target we will make those targets focus not just on the number of trees, but the long-term sustainability and contributions to biodiversity of any such exercise.
Fighting Floods
Destruction of land has massively weakened our natural flood defenses, which combined with man-made climate change has led to more floods, devastating lives across the country. Not only will we restore our natural flood defenses, we will establish a Flood Protection Body to work with local authorities directly in flood prevention and, where needed, relief.
Protecting Ecosystems
Only a biodiverse ecosystem is able to regulate pollutants such as Carbon Dioxide, but trades such as Ivory and Shark Fin completely disturb the balances of nature. These industries are a direct threat to our ability to have a sustainable planet, and with international co-operation should be quashed to protect our global ecosystem.
Prioritising Nature
Year after year after year, we quite literally set our National Parks on fire, destroying biodiversity in order to create land suitable for shooting grouse upon. This destruction of our National Parks - land we're intending to quite literally make purely natural - is a disgrace taht we will bring to an end.
Making Goods Last
You don't need to wear rose tinted glasses to see that items that used to last for years - fridges, lawnmowers, mobile phones - now last for nowhere near as long. The 'innovation' of planned obsolescence is vile when we're struggling to meet climate targets, and in order to combat this - and protect consumers - we will extend the legal minimum warranties on products to a more sustainable level.
