Proper Pay for Teachers

Teachers build the foundation of the world, and yet they are so undervalued many of them can't rely on their own salaries to get them through the month. The People's Movement will hike teacher pay by at least 10% across the board and recruit 55,000 extra teachers to slash the teacher/learner ratio down.

Investing in Our Future

Nobody should have to pay for education of any kind - that goes for tertiary education as well. The People's Movement will ensure free tuition in tertiary education.

Getting Support where it's needed

Special needs schools have a chronic understaffing and underresourcing problem. The People's Movement will ensure proper support is in place for those members of our society who don't mesh well with mainstream education, and that special needs schools get the support they so desperately deserve.

Learning for more than an Exam

It has been consistently shown that exam-based assessment is an outdated, inaccurate, and mentally straining way of measuring knowledge. The People's Movement will abolish exam-based assessment of knowledge to ensure that pupils aren't judged by their tree-climbing ability.

Caring for Our Future

Universal Childcare has been a key portion of the political debate in recent months. The People's Movement want every child to get a fair start in life, which is why we will ensure Universal Childcare is protected and gets the funding it needs to deliver for children, allowing parents to either work, or take up adult education to reskill themselves.

Fit For Purpose Assessment of Schools

OFSTED is fundamentally broken, consistently shown to bias towards richer schools, whilst punishing poorer ones so that they can be targetted by vultures seeking a profit. In order to more accurately reflect the quality of education, as well as remove undue stresses on our teachers and educators, we will reform OFSTED as a more localised body, adapted the specific needs of the local area.
